What we supply

Zinc Sulphate in bulk, against a written specification.

Zinc sulphate is traded in two hydrates and the difference is almost entirely about how much water you are paying to transport. The monohydrate is the concentrated form; the heptahydrate carries seven waters of crystallisation and correspondingly less zinc per bag. The two grades in the table above — 33 per cent and 21 per cent zinc — are the Indian Fertiliser (Control) Order specifications for monohydrate and heptahydrate respectively, which is the benchmark most Indian buyers quote against whether or not the material is going to a field.

Zinc deficiency is the most widespread micronutrient deficiency in Indian soils, and zinc sulphate is the standard and cheapest way to correct it, which is what makes this a high-volume product here. Outside agriculture the same salt goes into animal feed premixes, the spin bath in viscose rayon, zinc plating electrolytes and froth flotation, where it is used to depress sphalerite. Monohydrate is the practical choice for blending and for anything shipped a long distance; heptahydrate dissolves faster and is preferred for spray solutions and liquid dosing.

Grades & packing

What goes out, and how it is packed.

These are the formats we most commonly supply. Other grades, packing sizes and pack marking are available — ask at the enquiry stage.

Applications

Where zinc sulphate earns its place.

Agricultural micronutrient

Correcting zinc deficiency by soil application or foliar spray, where supply is regulated (see below).

Animal feed

Zinc source in cattle, poultry and aqua feed premixes, against a feed-grade specification.

Viscose rayon

Spin-bath component in viscose fibre and cellophane production.

Electroplating

Zinc source in acid sulphate and sulphate–chloride plating electrolytes, and in zinc electrowinning. Alkaline zinc baths use zinc oxide as zincate, not zinc sulphate.

Mineral flotation

Sphalerite depressant in lead–zinc and copper flotation circuits.

Wood & water treatment

Wood preservative formulations and as a corrosion inhibitor in cooling-water programmes.

Handling & storage

What to get right before the load arrives.

Worth reading before you order rather than after. If any of this is a problem at your site, tell us — it usually changes what we would quote.

Site notes

  • Store in a dry, covered store on pallets. Heptahydrate is the more sensitive of the two: it effloresces and loses crystal water in dry heat from around 30 °C, and it also picks up moisture and cakes in humid weather. Monohydrate is the more stable form in storage and in transit, which is part of why it is the practical choice for blending and for long hauls. Keep bags sealed and off damp floors and rotate stock for both.
  • Zinc salts are toxic to aquatic life, and zinc sulphate is commonly shipped as UN 3077, Class 9, environmentally hazardous substance, solid, n.o.s., packing group III. Confirm the classification on the shipping document for the specific grade and hydrate rather than assuming it is unregulated.
  • Never let spillage, washings or spent solution reach a storm drain or a watercourse. Collect dry spillage; treat aqueous effluent through the zinc-removal step in your effluent plant.
  • Zinc sulphate causes serious eye damage — GHS Eye Dam. 1, H318, not simple irritation — and is harmful if swallowed (H302); the dust also irritates skin and the respiratory tract. Use tight-fitting chemical goggles rather than safety glasses, gloves, and dust extraction at tipping and blending points. Eye contact needs immediate prolonged irrigation and medical attention.
  • Supply for agricultural use in India is regulated under the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985. Velora holds a certificate of registration under the Order and our registration particulars are provided with the quotation. Tell us the end use at the enquiry stage so the grade and the regulatory position are confirmed before anything is committed.

Price

What actually moves the zinc sulphate price.

Zinc sulphate tracks the zinc market and the cost of sulphuric acid, but not tightly: most Indian technical and fertiliser grades are made from zinc ash and dross recovered from galvanising units rather than from LME-grade metal, so the availability of that scrap moves the price as much as the metal does. Compare offers on zinc content, not on rupees per bag: monohydrate at 33 per cent zinc and heptahydrate at 21 per cent are not comparable by weight. We quote per MT in writing, landed, with a stated validity.

Questions

Zinc Sulphate — what buyers ask us.

What is the difference between zinc sulphate monohydrate and heptahydrate?

The number of waters of crystallisation, and therefore the zinc concentration. Monohydrate is specified at 33 per cent zinc and heptahydrate at 21 per cent under the Indian FCO, so a tonne of monohydrate carries far more zinc. Heptahydrate dissolves faster, which is why sprayers often prefer it.

Which zinc sulphate is better for foliar spray?

Heptahydrate is usually preferred for spray solutions because it dissolves faster and more completely. Once in solution at the same zinc concentration the two are chemically the same, so any difference in leaf response comes from free acid and insolubles in the grade — check those on the certificate of analysis rather than choosing on hydrate alone. Monohydrate is the better choice for soil application and for dry blending, and costs less to freight per unit of zinc.

Are you a zinc sulphate manufacturer?

No — Velora is a bulk supplier and trader, not a manufacturer. Zinc sulphate is sourced from established Indian producers and supplied in 50 kg bags and one tonne jumbos.

What is the zinc sulphate price per kg?

Zinc sulphate follows the LME zinc price and sulphuric acid cost, so offers carry a stated validity. Compare offers on zinc content — 33 per cent monohydrate and 21 per cent heptahydrate are not comparable by weight.

Do you supply zinc sulphate in Gujarat?

Yes. Velora is based in Ahmedabad and supplies zinc sulphate across Gujarat and the rest of India in 50 kg bags and one tonne jumbos, quoted landed at your delivery point.

What is the HSN code for zinc sulphate?

The HSN code for zinc sulphate is 2833 29 90 (Sulphates — other). There is no dedicated zinc line in the Indian tariff, so zinc sulphate falls to the residual “other sulphates” item. Ignore 2833 26 10, which still circulates online: subheading 2833.26 was deleted from the HS in 2007. Formulated and chelated micronutrient products registered under the Fertiliser (Control) Order are treated differently and have been held classifiable under 3824 99 90. Confirm the heading with your own tax adviser. Source: the Indian customs tariff as listed in the GST HSN directory, checked September 2026.

Documentation

Zinc Sulphate — MSDS, COA and what travels with the load.

UN 3077 is the usual entry, but producers do not all classify this material the same way. The classification for your lot is on the safety data sheet and the consignor’s declaration, and that is what the consignment ships under.

DocumentWhat it covers for zinc sulphateWhen you get it
Product specificationDownload the product specification sheet for zinc sulphate (PDF) — CAS, formula, grade supplied against, packing, HSN and transport classification. Carries no test results and certifies no batch.Download now
Safety data sheet (MSDS/SDS)Download the 16-section GHS safety data sheet (PDF) — compiled from PubChem, the ECHA CLP inventory and ILO safety cards. The producer’s sheet for the lot supplied governs and is issued with the consignment.Download now
Representative COAA producer’s representative certificate of analysis for the grade you specify, obtained at enquiry stage so your QC can assess zinc sulphate against your own specificationBefore commercial terms
Batch COATested values for the batch actually loaded on your vehicleWith despatch documents
Technical data sheetHandling, storage and materials-of-construction guidanceOn request
TREM cardTransport emergency information for the driver, on the vehicleWith the consignment

We do not publish blank certificates to download. A certificate of analysis belongs to a batch, so a generic one tells you nothing about the material on your vehicle — and the safety data sheet is the producer’s document for the grade actually quoted. Ask and both are emailed, usually the same working day.
