What we supply
Soda ash is sodium carbonate, and the light and dense grades differ in bulk density rather than chemistry. Dense flows and handles better in continuous plant and is what glass works buy; light dissolves faster and is the usual choice for detergent and textile duty.
Gujarat is one of the significant producing regions in India, which puts Velora close to the source for domestic supply and well placed for container export out of Mundra.

Soda ash is energy-intensive to make and heavy to move, so power costs and freight both weigh on it, and the international price sets a ceiling because India both produces and imports. Light and dense usually price close together, with the difference coming down to the specific source. Jumbo bags beat 50 kg bags on landed cost at volume if you have the handling for them.

Glass plants take dense, because it flows and blends properly in a continuous batch house. Detergent and textile plants generally take light, because it dissolves faster. If you are handling it through hoppers and screws, dense will give you far less trouble regardless of the application.
No, and substituting one for the other causes real problems. Soda ash is sodium carbonate — a moderate alkali and not a transport dangerous good, far less aggressive than caustic soda. That does not make it harmless: the dust is a serious eye irritant and irritates skin and airways, so goggles and a dust mask are not optional at the tipping point. Caustic soda is sodium hydroxide — far stronger and corrosive. The two are used differently and priced differently.
