What we supply
Flakes are caustic soda in solid form — the same alkali as lye, with the water taken out. That makes them the sensible choice when you have no bulk tank, when the monthly offtake does not justify a tanker, or when the material has to travel a long way and you would rather not pay freight on 52% water.

Price
Flakes track lye, because that is what they are made from, plus the cost of concentration and bagging. So the chlor-alkali cycle sets the floor and the flaking and packing add a premium per tonne of NaOH. Your landed number then depends on truckload versus part-load, 25 kg bags versus jumbos, distance, and terms. Ask and we will quote it in writing with a stated validity.
Questions
If you have a storage tank, a pump and a monthly offtake that fills a tanker, lye is cheaper per tonne of actual NaOH. If you batch by hand, have no bulk storage, or are shipping a long distance, flakes usually work out better once freight and handling are counted. Tell us your monthly quantity and how you dose it and we will say plainly which one we would buy in your position.
Indefinitely in a sealed bag kept dry. The failure mode is not degradation, it is moisture pickup and caking, which is a storage problem rather than a shelf-life one.

The number moves with the chlor-alkali market, freight to your pin code, bag or jumbo packing and the tonnage you lift, so we do not publish a list price that would be out of date within the week.
