What we supply

Mono Ethylene Glycol in bulk, against a written specification.

MEG's dominant use has nothing to do with antifreeze — the overwhelming majority goes into polyester, as one of the two feedstocks for PET resin and polyester fibre. India's textile industry is a very large consumer, which is why MEG availability tends to track what polyester is doing.

Its other duties trade on the same property: it lowers freezing point and holds water. That makes it the coolant and antifreeze base, and the hydrate inhibitor injected into natural gas pipelines and low-temperature separation trains. Note that hydrate inhibition is not the same job as gas dehydration — contactor and regenerator dehydration uses triethylene glycol, a different product. Velora supplies MEG in ISO tanks and drums.

Grades & packing

These are the formats we most commonly supply. Other concentrations, packing sizes and pack marking are available — ask at the enquiry stage.

Applications

Where mono ethylene glycol earns its place.

Polyester & PET

Feedstock for PET resin and polyester fibre — the largest use by far.

Coolants & antifreeze

Base fluid for engine coolant and industrial heat transfer.

Gas processing

Hydrate inhibition in pipelines and low-temperature separation. Contactor dehydration is a TEG duty, not MEG.

Chillers & HVAC

Secondary refrigerant in low-temperature circuits.

Resins

Unsaturated polyester and alkyd resin manufacture.

Solvents

Humectant and solvent in inks and formulations.

Handling & storage

What to get right before the load arrives.

Worth reading before you order rather than after. If any of this is a problem at your site, tell us — it usually changes what we would quote.

Site notes

  • MEG is hygroscopic and will absorb water from the air. In coolant and hydrate-inhibition duty the lean water content is what matters, so store closed and blanket the tank if the application is sensitive.
  • It is toxic if swallowed and tastes sweet, which is why spills and unlabelled containers are genuinely dangerous around a plant. Label everything and clean up spills properly.
  • Carbon steel is acceptable for industrial and coolant duty. Fibre-grade MEG is a different matter — store and transfer it in stainless (304 or 316), because carbon steel contributes iron and puts the material off specification on colour and UV transmittance, the exact parameters a polyester plant tests on receipt.

Price

What actually moves the mono ethylene glycol price.

MEG is made from ethylene and so tracks crude and naphtha, but the sharper driver is polyester demand, because that is where most of it goes — when polyester runs hard, MEG tightens regardless of what oil is doing. India imports a large share, so freight and currency matter too. ISO tank versus drum makes a real difference at volume.

Questions

Mono Ethylene Glycol — what buyers ask us.

What is the difference between MEG, DEG, TEG and MPG?

MEG goes into polyester and coolants, and is injected as a hydrate inhibitor. DEG goes into resins. TEG is the glycol for gas dehydration in contactor service — if that is your duty, MEG is the wrong product. MPG (mono propylene glycol) is the one to use wherever the fluid may contact food, pharmaceutical product or people, because MEG is toxic. Do not substitute MEG into an application that specifies MPG.

Can I use MEG in a food or pharma application?

No. MEG is toxic if ingested. Where a glycol may contact food, beverage, pharmaceutical product or skin, the correct material is mono propylene glycol at the appropriate grade. We supply MPG as well — tell us the application and we will quote the right one.

Do you supply fibre grade?

Tell us the application and the parameters your process controls, and we will confirm what we can source against them in writing before quoting.

What is the mono ethylene glycol price per kg?

MEG is quoted per kg or per tonne, landed, and follows international glycol pricing closely, so written offers carry a short validity. ISO-tank loads work out cheaper per kg than drums.

Where can I buy ethylene glycol in bulk?

Send grade, monthly quantity and delivery point to our Ahmedabad desk. We supply MEG fibre grade in ISO tanks and drums across India and on export.

What is the HSN code for mono ethylene glycol (MEG)?

The HSN code for mono ethylene glycol (MEG) is 2905 31 00 (Ethylene glycol (ethanediol)). Source: the Indian customs tariff as listed in the GST HSN directory, checked September 2026.
