Stearic acid is a solid fatty acid made by splitting and fractionating fats and oils — in India most commonly palm stearin, though tallow-based material is also traded. Where feedstock origin matters to you, for a vegetable-origin, halal or kosher declaration, say so at the enquiry stage: it is confirmed from the producer's documentation for the specific lot, not assumed. The trade grades — 40, 50 and 60 — describe how much of the product is stearic acid rather than palmitic: the higher the number, the more stearic and the higher the melting range.
Triple pressing is a fractionation step: it strips out the liquid unsaturated fatty acids, so triple-pressed material carries a low iodine value and a harder, more consistent melt. Colour and odour are set separately, by distillation and bleaching, which is what candle and personal-care buyers are really specifying. All three grades we offer are triple pressed, in 25 kg bags; rubber and PVC users normally take grade 40 because cost per tonne matters more to them than colour or melting point.
